Before the race Chrigel and Thomas explained that their 3S strategy - supreme, safe and fast – was intended to reach two goals: "One in Monaco, the other back home in Interlaken."
11 days have passed since the starting gun in Salzburg. Days of energy-sapping marching through rain, storm and even snow were just as much part of it as flying days, on which Chrigel yet again astonished with incredible performances. The odds fell with Chrigel’s legendary flight on 22nd July, which put him well ahead of the competition – even despite a 24 hour penalty because of a minor airspace infringement. Chrigel sums up the incident as follows: "9 hrs in the air, 220km flight, 7m/s climb - only 4 metres too high. Result: 24 hours sleeping and eating".
Now Chrigel is in Monaco – his path to victory reflects Team SUI 1’s 3S strategy crystal clear: superior - safe – fast (schnell). The two stuck to this motto over the whole race.
Team ADVANCE sincerely congratulate Chrigel and Thomas on their magnificent victory in the 2011 RedBull X-Alps - Bravo!
