A load of Know How for the international ADVANCE XC Serial Team – on the weekend of 31st March to 3rd April the XC Serial Team pilots got the benefit of some absolute cracks‘ knowledge.
Theoretical basics on one side and practical application on the other – at the Know How camp the XC serial pilots could make the most of both. Presentations from ADVANCE Chief designer Thomas Ripplinger and harness development expert Marcel Lamprecht gave the pilots some insight into Aerodynamics, Urs Braun talked about “mental limits” and Micha Schulze showed how to spot good cross country weather.

The top pilots’ flying background was revealed. ADVANCE test pilot Andy Aebi shared his Know How about extreme flight manoeuvres, XContest Winner Thomas Koster showed how a cross country flight should be planned, X-alps Winner Chrigel Maurer thematised cross country tactics and European champion Greg Blondeau showed how to plan a whole cross county season.
The XC pilots were also able to put their new-found knowledge into practice, and the 20 XC Serial Team Pilots had been underway with their special team wings since the previous weekend. The XC pilots flew some extreme manoeuvres on their new gliders over Lake Thun, and on the weekend the team went on the road in the Berner Oberland.
Something worth noting: XC Team Pilot Kurt Eder made a 190km FAI-triangle with his OMEGA 8 this weekend.
Portraits of the XC Serial Pilots will appear soon on this Website.
