Chrigel continues his winning streak with success in the Interlaken Bordairline, along with passenger Simon Anthamatten – both of them under the BIBETA 5 once again.

On Friday, June 1st 2012, 19 athletes from Switzerland, Austria and Germany set off from Interlaken on the second of this season’s Bordairlines. The starting gun echoed around the Lehn landing field at 8 in the morning.

Conditions on this first day were not easy, but despite weak thermals Chrigel managed two three hour flights and an evening session to get as far as Beckenried, where the team set their turn point at 64 km and set off back.

Together with passenger Simon Anthamatten, mountain guide and extreme alpinist from Zermatt, Chrigel reached goal on the Sunday at 15.15 hrs, only 3 minutes before the rain set in, after covering 84 kms on foot, and having walked up a total of 4300 metres. At the finish they just had their noses in front – beating second-placed Max Mittmann by 2 km.

“The BIBETA 5 has shown itself to be the top tandem wing again!”, enthused Chrigel Maurer. To finish first ahead of the solo pilots rather underlines this statement, and demonstrates the new ADVANCE tandem’s advantages – especially considering the wing’s ability to takeoff and land in difficult places.
