Competition success for the SIGMA 8
19.08.11 | A new success for the SIGMA 8: after five tasks, David Smart and Ruth Churchill Dower won the British Championship in the sport class. Report from David : "I’ve had great fun this year flying in the British Championships on my Sigma 8 27. We had 3 valid tasks in Slovenia ranging from 50 to 100km and getting back up from weak climbs low down in the Kobarid valley was just a joy. At time patience was key, soaring the valley breeze, waiting for the climb back up to base. In St Jean De Montclar we had six days flying, although only two valid tasks. Racing up and down the Dormillouse Ridge on bar was easy despite the strong thermic conditions. The first day was an excellent 68km technical task with turnpoints out in the valley, which everyone seemed to enjoy, and the second day a 75km task with a spectacular lake crossing to the Pic de Morgon. I couldn’t be happier with my glider choice - great safety, great performance." Ruth Dower is first in the female ranking. ADVANCE congratulates them sincerely for this great success.
