South Tirol powerhouse completes XC Serial Team

21.03.11 | The ADVANCE XC Serial Team is complete – and with South Tiroler Kurt Eder ADVANCE has acquired a top pilot.

But what has persuaded Eder to give up his 2-liner proto and saddle up on an ADVANCE OMEGA 8 - a serial wing? "The OMEGA 8 has impressed me so much that I have to go for the ADVANCE Team”, says the 38 year old XC pilot. Even though flying the two liner appeals to him, Eder has opted for an OMEGA 8. The reason lies in safety: “I frequently takeoff in alpine terrain where it is often stony, and it is important to me that a glider takes off well. Otherwise the risk of injury is too high”, explains the ADVANCE XC Serial Team’s new ace-up-their-sleeve. Over recent years Kurt Eder has tested various wings, and to him the OMEGA 8 looks good. He is also impressed by the glider’s performance, but it goes further than what the mind thinks. Eder’s gut-feeling says: “That is the glider.“

The South Tiroler is a cross country crack par excellence: in 2009 he won the XContest and came 2nd in 2010. Kurt Eder emerged on to the scene in 2005 when he flew into second place in the OLC-Ranking. The South Tiroler mainly makes his long flights in his local area: Kurt Eder is known as the one who has developed the cross country area from the Speikboden – and, by the way, Eder has also flown his FAI triangles from this takeoff.

Kurt Eder hopes that with the OMEGA 8, “that is so easy to take off and fly, and offers a high measure of safety with it”, he can succeed with good and long flights. In this venture we wish him much success and always happy landings.
