Tumbling World Record and Victory at the Baden Württemburg Championships
02.06.09 | Chrigel Maurer resets with 210 turns his Infinity Tumbling world record during the BaWü Championships, and Samuel Blocher wins the National Champion title on a OMEGA 7!
The BaWü Open has been a highlight of the paraglider competition scene for years. Seldom can competition pilots in Europe put their skills to the test before so large a gallery. Yet again at Whitsun the organisers succeeded in attracting many spectators to the Black Forest, bringing our sport to a wide section of the public.
Two tasks of 58·8 and 46·6 km decided the contest. Samuel Blocher was victorious overall with his stock OMEGA 7, and this meant that he not only becomes BaWü National Champion, but is BaWü Open Serial Class winner as well. Valery Regehr was likewise underway with an OMEGA 7, finishing third in the serial rankings – thus winning a further podium place for ADVANCE.
On the Sunday evening Chrigel Maurer took off in front of the large crowd at the BaWü Open for a new Infinity Tumbling record attempt. It was not long before the spectators had counted 210 forward loops from his ADVANCE Akro Proto - success! He had surpassed his own total of 198 rotations, set last year! Once again Chrigel had to deal with high g loadings of up to 6g each skip during the record flight. You can find Chrigel’s personal narrative of this exceptional flight here as a PDF.
Team ADVANCE sends its sincere congratulations all the pilots for these great performances!
