ADVANCE is about to launch the PI, the lightest serial paraglider - really! The multi-talented PI covers the range from ”Mountain Intense” to “Hike&Fly Pleasure”, depending on the wing loading.

It’s all in the name. A PI Package (complete equipment includes wing, backpack and harness) comes out weighing from 3.14 kg. To go with the product there will be a new ADVANCE EASINESS reversible light harness, to be launched this summer.

The PI is a completely new development and is directed specifically at the needs of mountain climbers and Hike&Fly pilots. In its upper weight range the smaller area provides dynamic flying fun with pleasant and agile handling. At the “Hike&Fly Pleasure” end this product, among other things, shows exceptional takeoff and climbing qualities.

The minimal canopy weights of 2.45 kg for the 19 size and 2.8 kg for the 23 are the result of extensively refined design. Valuable experience gained by Chrigel’s X-Alps exploits has found its way into this product. The PI has only 35 cells, no diagonals, and the covered base lines originate from only two risers. Modern technologies such as leading edge Nylon wires are used. Most of the wing is made from familiar Skytex 27g/m2 cloth from Porcher Sport.

Flight and load tests of the 19 PI are complete, and the 23 size will follow shortly. The product will be available in a new colour scheme. First deliveries are planned for the beginning of september 2012.
